Richie Brace Standard with Dynamic Assist

In this series, we asked SOLO clinical specialists Sharon Smith, CPed and Heidi Schroeder to provide insight into selecting the best braces for your patients.

What are the clinical indications for the Richie Brace Dynamic Assist?

  • Post CVA
  • Mild Muscular Dystrophy
  • Charcot Marie Tooth Disease
  • Post Spinal Cord Surgery
  • Diabetic Neuropathy
  • Diabetic Charcot deformity without severe equinus

How does the Richie Brace Dynamic Assist work to help these conditions?
The brace has a dynamic dorsiflexion-assist that controls varus/valgus alignment of the foot. It allows unrestricted sagittal ankle motion and provides semi-rigid lower limb support with a custom orthotic footplate and Tamarack ® flexural ankle joints.

What are the contraindications for this brace?

The brace is not recommended for patients with:

  • Spasticity of the plantar flexors or invertor muscle groups
  • Moderate to severe weakness of plantar flexors
  • Severe equinus (ankle dorsiflexion of zero degrees or less)
