Refurbishing custom orthotics will give new life to a well-worn pair of custom orthotics. Enjoy the benefits of a new pair while being budget-friendly.
Here are some telltale signs that your custom orthotics need to refurbished.
Is the top cover pulling away from the shell? Or, has it completely pulled away from the shell?
Does the top cover have cracks, holes or signs of significant wear?
Is the heel posting worn down or worn away?
What is involved in refurbishing custom orthotics?
When your orthotics arrive, we remove all the worn soft components. This includes things like the top cover and padding. If needed, we will remove posting material. The original plate is cleaned up. We add new padding, accommodations, and a new top cover. If the arch reinforcement and/or posting is worn, we will replace that too. Your refurbished orthotics will be like new and may require a breaking in period, especially if you have not worn them in a few years.
Should I refurbish my custom orthotics that have not been worn in years?
Your custom orthotics were handcrafted for you. Certain medical conditions like diabetes, lower extremity injuries or surgeries, pregnancy, and changes in weight are just a few of the reasons your custom orthotics may need some modifications. We recommend having your prescriber confirm that the prescription is appropriate for your needs.

My poditrist moved his practice somewhere away from our city. I had these Solo Prescription Orthipedic inserts referbished in the past. I would like to have them refurbished again. Can I just sent them to you to have that done. I don’t want the expense of finding another doctor to be the middle man to make this happen if possible

Doug,
Your orthotics are a prescription device which means only licensed prescribers can have them refurbished. We are happy to provide the name of a doctor in your area or many physical therapists will also help you. You can use our Find A Doctor form to find a doctor near you. We will refurbish your orthotics for any provider even if they don’t normally use SOLO. They can call us at 800-765-6522 and we’ll make it easy for them. Thanks
Because they are prescription devices you need to work with a podiatrist or other prescriber. We’re happy to provide names of podiatrists in your area when you complete the Find a Doctor form. We are happy to work with any provider you choose to get your custom orthotics refurbished.
Thom,

My cousin has been thinking about getting her orthotics repaired because they are really comfortable shoes, and she needs them. She would really like to get some help from a professional to make sure that they can be repaired properly. I liked what you said about how they may need some modifications because medical conditions can change with the right prescription.
Thanks for helping me understand that custom-made orthotics are handcrafted for you for certain medical conditions. With that in mind, I should tell my dad to seek a professional to help him out. It’s because he has arthritis and diabetes that might be the main reason for the issue with his mobility these past few months.

I saw a form for the podiatrist to fill out a few weeks ago, and wonder if I need that.
ReplyWe recommend that you chat with your doctor. She can send them back to SOLO to be refurbished or repaired…even if they weren’t manufactured by SOLO.
ReplyCan I send my orthotics directly to you to recover or must I go through a podiatrist?
