The benefit of custom orthotics is that they are made to order for his or her foot. Physicians and other prescribers sometimes request that the custom orthotics are fitted to the patient’s shoe or insole.
Here are a few tips to ensure that your patient gets the best fit for shoes:
Include the insole for the shoe along with your cast or foam box. The insole serves as a template for the custom orthotics to give the best fit for that specific shoe. By including the insole, SOLO has additional data to provide the optimal fit for your patient.
There is no need to send the shoe. However, if you choose to send the shoe along for fitting, it is also important to include the insole. Fitting an orthotic to a shoe is a much faster and more precise process when it is available.
If you are requesting a duplicate pair, include in your order a photocopy of the top covers of the custom orthotics that you would like to duplicate. Having a copy gives SOLO another opportunity to provide an exact match and ensure the best fit for your patient.
Do you scan for orthotics?
If you use the TOM-CAT® scanner, simply scan in the top covers when you scan in your orders. If you are using the viSo or iTOM-CAT, call us, and we will walk you through the process.
