We received a phone call that there was a nationwide shortage of blood. Miller-Keystone Blood Center was in crucial need of donations for all blood types. SOLO jumped into action. We organized a blood drive so that our employees could donate while they were at work.
The bloodmobile was on-site at SOLO, which made it easy and convenient to donate blood. We invited the public to participate and encouraged employees to invite family and friends to give blood. We hung posters around town to be sure the event was a success.
Many of our employees are blood donors. It can be challenging to find time to donate around busy work and family schedules. Having the bloodmobile on-site made it more accessible.
Brenda said, “I loved having the bloodmobile here. I generally donate blood, but life is so chaotic I don’t always get to other appointments. It was very convenient having the bloodmobile here.” Sue added, “I was very happy to see the turnout we had and proud to work for a company that felt the need to give back to our community and local blood bank.”
For several employees, it was there first time donating blood. It was a good experience for them, and they agreed to participate in future blood drives.
Helping our community is part of the heart and soul of the SOLO mission to Serve Others, Love Others. For our employees, it’s personally rewarding to know that they’re helping others, and that’s a winning combination for all.
