Get to Know Brian Riegel

Years at SOLO: 24 years in September

Current role at SOLO:  Manufacturing Tech

What is the best thing about working at SOLO? The best thing about working at SOLO is the people I have had the privilege of calling friends.

Family: Wife, Stephanie; sons, Alex and Cole; and daughter, Emma. Dogs: Murphy and Jaeger. Cats: Maddie and Charlotte, and two turtles.

What is your favorite color? Purple

What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation is to tour Germany to explore its medieval history and castles, including Neuschwanstein. I’d like to learn more about where my ancestors came from and to visit an exchange student/good friend, in Berlin, who my in-laws hosted in 1998.

Who is your favorite band or musician? Tony Bennett, but you will find all genres of music on my phone.

A household chore you enjoy doing? Doing dishes but folding laundry is a close second.

What is one food or beverage you can’t live without? Guers Iced Tea.

What is your hobby? How did you get started in this hobby? My hobby is playing the trombone. I was a bad trumpet player, and my director asked me to switch to the trombone. It was one of the best blessings ever. Now, 34 years later, I am still playing in church every Sunday, and whenever an opportunity for a short-term commitment arises. I have had the opportunity to play all over the eastern United States, from Florida to Massachusetts and outside the US from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Montreux, Switzerland. I also performed in a barbershop quartet, and we sang the national anthem at a Reading Phillies game last summer.

Additional Fun Facts: I also love to write. I am the editor/writer of the Hamburg Area Historical Society Facebook page.

“Brian puts his attention to detail to work for SOLO.  He’s always willing to train others and does a great job of providing valuable feedback to all members of the team,” said Jaimyn Westenhoefer, President.
